Let me take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Bo Grospitch, and I have been involved in some type of art for most of my life, and practicing professionally for about 15 years now.
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor's in Graphic Design. Then I worked in sign shops, loaded/unloaded freight in various warehouses, until I finally figured out that I really needed to get back to doing something that I really enjoyed. I'm not afraid of hard work, but I knew I wasn't going to be able retire from throwing freight.
I had a job designing graphics for medical training software. Then moved on to creating illustrations for headwear, tee shirts, and other apparel. I continued that for about 3 years, then moved with my wife to Colorado. A few months after arriving, I was introduced to some really good folks that had a contract with Hewlett-Packard, and I began laying out graphics for packaging (monitors, PCs, notebooks, keyboards, mice, etc), designing icons, business cards, letterheads, logos, and more stuff that I won't bore you with.
It's been nearly a decade now, and although the bulk of my work has consisted of packaging layout, I still really look forward to the opportunities when I get to work on the more creative stuff (logos, illustrations, etc). I also enjoy when I get dig in to the web work (HTML and CSS). I would not consider myself to be a super advanced web designer, but I know enough to be dangerous (sorry, helpful).
I have had exposure to lots of different types of graphics (packaging, headwear, logos, signs, etc) and while I have a good understanding of many processes, I'm also not so arrogant as to think that I know everything. Having said that, I love to learn new things, but I would also inform a client if I don't have the necessary skills to do something they are asking for (ex. flash animation, 3D modeling, shooting/editing video). I would sooner turn down a job that I don't know how to do, rather than provide sub-standard artwork, and have an angry client. In other words, if I miss a deadline, that means they miss a deadline, and I take what I do, and the people I work with seriously. For me, it just seems like good customer service.
I also don't argue with a client. For example, I will show what I feel are the best options for a particular design, but if the client still wants dark blue letters on a black background, then I will give them what they want. My job is to help the client bring THEIR vision to life. Not the other way around.
Hopefully, since you've gotten this far, you haven't been scared off. Feel free to call or email, and let's talk about how I might be able to help you with your graphics needs.
Sincerely,
Bo Grospitch
